Patrolling the wrong places
Walking around the whole map feels active, but it often gives survivors free repair time. Beginners should learn to identify the active side of the map: generators with progress, recent scratch marks, injured survivor paths, and rescue routes.
- Check generators survivors are likely to repair next, not every generator equally.
- Watch for generator clusters that will matter in the final two objectives.
- Do not spend thirty seconds checking an area where nobody has a reason to be.
Wasting hook pressure
A hook is not only a score event. It forces survivors to decide who rescues, who heals, who repairs, and who hides. If you stand still with no plan or wander away from every useful objective, you give that pressure back.
- After hooking, look toward nearby generators, rescuer paths, and injured survivors.
- Punish unsafe rescues, but do not forget the rest of the map.
- If two survivors are busy with a rescue and heal, pressure the survivor still repairing.
