Quick answer
New player sees Haste and wants to know how speed boosts affect chase, rescue, and endgame decisions.
What Haste does
Haste means a character is moving faster than normal for a period of time or under certain conditions. Beginners should read Haste as a spacing change. A survivor may reach a pallet sooner, a killer may close distance faster, or an endgame path may become possible that was not safe a few seconds earlier.
- Use Haste to reach a real resource, not to run randomly.
- Expect chase timing to feel different while the icon is active.
- Watch whether the effect belongs to you, a teammate, or the killer.
How survivors should use Haste
Survivor Haste is best when it turns into position: a safer tile, a finished rescue path, a gate, or distance from hook. It is weaker when beginners sprint without looking ahead and end up in a dead zone. Speed does not replace route planning.
- Aim the speed boost toward a window, pallet, gate, or teammate plan.
- Do not run straight into a corner just because you are faster.
- Use the gained distance to break line of sight when possible.
How killers should react to Haste
If a survivor gains Haste, the killer should quickly judge whether the chase is still worth it. Sometimes the boost is short and a good mindgame still works. Sometimes it carries the survivor to a strong resource and the better play is returning to generators or hook pressure.
- Do not panic swing just because the survivor gained speed.
- Check whether the survivor now reaches another safe tile.
- Drop chase if Haste turns the route into a time sink.

Does Haste always mean I should keep running?
No. Haste is useful only if it creates a better position. Run toward a safe resource, exit path, or objective plan instead of drifting into a dead zone.
Can killers also get Haste?
Yes. Some killer effects can increase movement speed. Survivors should respect distance more carefully when the killer is closing faster than usual.
